Sean Whalen, D.D.S.

Dr. Sean Whalen was born and raised in Eastern Iowa. He and his wife fell in love with Colorado after being married in Glenwood Springs and now consider Colorado their home. Dr. Sean attended the University of Iowa for dental school and his advanced training in pediatric dentistry. He has been part of Children’s Dentistry for over a decade.
Dr. Sean is active in the Colorado Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry; he is Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry. Although Dr. Sean now considers Denver his permanent home, he will always be an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Dr. Sean and his wife, Brandy, live in Denver and enjoy an active lifestyle. Dr. Sean and his wife have three boys: Ewan, Holden and Emmett.


Dr. Grace Diehl, D.D.S.
A native of Broomfield, Colorado, Dr. Grace Diehl earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder and completed her master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences with a focus in allergy and immunology at Regis University. She attended the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine where she served as class vice president and president of her school’s pediatric dentistry club. It was here that Dr. Grace realized how rewarding it was to work with children and guide them in developing healthy dental habits. After dental school, Dr. Grace received two years of specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Children’s Hospital Colorado. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
In her free time, Dr. Grace enjoys being outdoors in the Colorado mountains, reading, trying new recipes, and spending time with her husband, Kyle, and their young son.
Stacy Jackson, D.D.S.
Dr. Stacy Jackson was born and raised in Topeka, KS. She attended Kansas State University and is an avid Wildcat fan. Upon completing dental school at UMKC in 2010, she moved to Jefferson City, MO, where she worked as a general dentist in public health for four years. Here, she discovered her passion for working with children. In June 2014, Dr. Stacy moved to Denver after being accepted into the pediatric dental residency at the Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora. She completed this program in June 2016, serving her last year as chief resident. Dr. Stacy has worked in various areas in the Denver Metro since her graduation from residency and is excited to call Boulder her home!
Dr. Stacy enjoys the beautiful Colorado weather and blue skies. She enjoys adventuring with her boyfriend Joe, skiing, hiking, boating, flying – basically, anything outdoors!! She has two fur babies, Norman the Pug and Addie the Tortoiseshell Kitty. Dr. Stacy is very excited to be in Boulder and working closely with Dr. Jones and everyone in the Boulder Pediatric Dentistry family.


Dr. Darby Hammond Barfield
Dr. Darby attended the University of California at Berkeley for undergrad. She went to the University of Connecticut for Dental School and finished her residency in Pediatric Dentistry at The Children’s Hospital in Denver Colorado. She has been an attending professor at the University of Colorado Dental School and the residency program at The Children’s Hospital. Dr. Darby has served as Dental Director for Dental Aid and donated time to Cavity Free at 3 and Give Kids A Smile. She has made two medical mission trips to Peru and Mexico.
She enjoys the outdoors, jogging, skiing, hiking, camping and spending time with her husband and two young children.
Emma Koster, D.D.S.
My name is Emma Koster!! I grew up in Boulder, Colorado. Growing up I played ice hockey and lacrosse and went on to play Division 1 Lacrosse at Duke University. After finishing my college career I was able to play in the World Cup in 2017. Once I finally decided to hang up my cleats, I went on to complete dental school at University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. I completed my advanced training in pediatric dentistry at Denver Health Hospital.
In my free time I love to ski, mountain bike, or spend time on the lake with my husband. We are expecting our first child in November and couldn’t be more excited!
I am so honored to help your kids feel safe and comfortable at the dental office!


Nelle V. Barr, D.M.D.

Dr. Nelle knows that she has the best job in the whole world! She enjoys working with children, helping children and carrying on the family tradition. Her father and her great grandfather were both dentists, and now she and her sister, Dr. Betty, are both pediatric dentists.
Dr. Nelle was born and raised in Kentucky. She moved to Colorado in 1993. She and her husband, Larry, both enjoy biking, bird hunting and snow skiing. They are pet crazy and have three dogs and one cat. Dr. Nelle is an avid Rockies fan and, of course, a HUGE UK basketball fan.
Dr. Nelle received her dental degree and her pediatric dental certificate from the University of Kentucky. She is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist. She is a past president of the Adams County Dental Society and the Colorado Academy of Pediatric Dentists. Dr. Nelle was a chairperson of RMDC 2014 and a past president of the Metro Denver Dental Foundation. In 2019 she was president of the Metro Denver Dental Society.
Dr. Nelle is currently serving as Treasurer of the Colorado Dental Association.
