We have chosen the 2018 scholars

We have selected three recipients for our Dr. Betty Barr Scholarship for Higher Education. With over 65 applicants, the selection process was a challenge! But after weeks of reviewing and deliberating, Samantha Pichler was awarded the top Scholarship of $5,000. Additionally, Lauren Lawless and Adam Chehadi were both awarded $1,000 scholarships. All three students will be attending college or schools of higher education in the fall of 2018.

The Dr. Betty Barr Scholarship for Higher Education is an annual scholarship awarded by us each year. . The scholarship was created as a way to honor of our founder, Dr. Betty Bar, after her retirement in 2015. All of our current patients who were high school seniors were encouraged to apply for the scholarship. They were asked to write an essay demonstrating their ability to show integrity, perseverance, and hard work.

“I read every single submission numerous times, and what it boiled down to was how each scholarship recipient dealt with adversaries to achieve their goals,” said Dr. Barr. “Every single applicant was incredibly deserving of the scholarship award, but ultimately, there were three that stood out based on the criteria we put forth.”

Congratulations to the winners! If you have an incoming senior, be on the lookout in April for the 2019 scholarship announcement.
